Basic Policy for Protection of Personal Information
Nippon Mining Holdings, Inc. (hereinafter the "Company") acknowledges personal information to be an important element of the individual's (hereinafter the "Individual") privacy, and considers the protection of personal information to be an important responsibility. The Company has established the following policy to fulfill this responsibility and will ensure that its directors and employees understand and are committed to the policy, thereby ensuring appropriate protection of personal information. Each Group company fully recognizes the importance of personal information and will work to ensure its protection.
- 1. Compliance, and the Establishment/continued improvement of internal regulations
- To ensure that personal information is securely safeguarded, the Company will comply with laws and regulations and other rules intended for the protection of personal information (hereinafter the "Laws and Regulations"). At the same time, the Company will establish, execute, maintain and continuously improve regulations intended for the protection of personal information in accordance with the Laws and Regulations.
- 2. Collection, use and provision of personal information
- The Company will establish a management structure to protect personal information in a way best suited to the Company's operations. At the same time, the Company will collect, use and provide personal information in a reasonable and cautious manner in accordance with the Laws and Regulations and the Company's internal regulations on the protection of personal information.
- 3. Implementing security measures
- The Company will implement appropriate safety measures to prevent unauthorized access to personal information and to prevent the loss, destruction, modification and leakage of personal information These measures are taken to ensure accuracy and safeguard personal information,.
- 4. Respecting Individual Rights
- The Company respects the rights of the Individual and, when requested by the Individual to disclose, correct, delete or cease the use or provision of personal information, the Company will comply in good faith to such requests to the degree that is reasonable in light of commonly-accepted norms and practices.
- 5. Educating directors and employees
- The Company provides education and training to ensure that compliance with both the Laws and Regulations and the internal Personal Information Protection Regulations, is observed and that the importance of personal information is well recognized among its directors and employees.
Use of Personal Information
Purpose of collecting and using personal information
- The Company falls under the category of "Personal Information Handling Enterprises (Data Collectors)" as specified in Article 2 of the Personal Information Protection Law. When collecting personal information, the Company will clearly specify the purpose of collecting such information and will limit such collection to the information required for achieving the purpose.
- The Company will not use personal information for purposes other than those approved by the Individual at the time of collecting the information. Furthermore, the Company will not provide the personal information collected to third parties unless the Individual requests that it be so provided or the Company receives requests from public agencies that are pursuant to the Laws and Regulations.
Note:
Personal information refers to information concerning a living natural person. Personal information includes the individual's name, date of birth and other descriptions, numbers, symbols, codes related to the individual, as well as images, voice recordings or data that can be used to identify the individual concerned. Personal information also includes information that does not by itself identify the individual but can be easily reconciled with other information in order to identify the individual.
Making a request for disclosure of personal information
The Company complies with the procedures given below when handling a request (hereinafter the "Request for Disclosure") from the Individual or his/her proxy under Article 24 (Notification of the purpose of use of personal information), Article 25 (Disclosure of Reserved Personal Data), Article 26 (Correction to the details of Reserved Personal Data) and Article 27 (Suspension of the use of Reserved Personal Data) of the Personal Information Protection Law (hereinafter the "Law").

Personal IDs identification documents
Please attach the original or copy of one of the following documents in order to verify the Individual's identity:
- Driver's license
- Basic Resident Register card
- Abstract of family register (displaying address, name and other necessary items only)
- Copy of residence certificate (displaying address, name and other necessary items only)
- Medical or other insurance card/certificate (medical records are not required)
- Nursing care insurance card
- Pension book
- Pension certificate
*If the Individual's current address is different from the address registered with the Company due to a change of residence or otherwise, please send a copy of a residence certificate showing a record of the change.
*If personal identification documents show the registered domicile, please cover this part when making photocopies to ensure that such information is withheld.

Handling charge
The Company requests a handling charge of 500 yen (tax inclusive) for requests for disclosure made under Article 24 (Notification of the purpose of use of personal information) or Article 25 (Disclosure of Reserved Personal Data) of the Law. When making such a request, please enclose a 500 yen postal money order (PMO) or postage stamps of the amount.
*The Company may revise the handling charge due to changes in postage or for other reasons.
*If the value of PMOs or postage stamps enclosed falls short of the handling charge or if they are not enclosed, the Company will inform the Individual and return all documents received.

Method of response
The Company will contact the Individual by registered mail sent to the postal address provided on the request form in response to the Request for Disclosure. It usually takes about two weeks for the Company to send a response upon receipt of the request form.

Purpose of use of personal information obtained in connection with the Request for Disclosure
The Company will limit its use of the personal information provided on the request form, personal identification documents and other materials submitted with the Request of Disclosure to the extent required to handle the Request for Disclosure. This may include contacting the Individual regarding the request or resolving any questions arising between the Company and the Individual.
After responding to the Request for Disclosure, the Company will immediately destroy or delete, in an appropriate manner, the information it obtained in connection with the request.

Refusal to disclose personal information
The Company may decline the Request for Disclosure in the situations specified below. If the Company decides to decline the Request for Disclosure, it will notify the person making the request of this decision and provide the reason for this decision. Even if the request is declined, the Company may still request payment of the specified handling charge.
- The Company is unable to confirm that the request was made by the Individual because the address given on the request form, the address given on the personal identification document provided, and address registered with the Company do not match, or due to other reasons.
- Right of proxy cannot be confirmed if a request is made by the Individual's proxy.
- There is a discrepancy in the request form/documents
- The personal information requested for disclosure does not match the Reserved Personal Data.
- Aside from the situations described in (1) to (4) above, situations that apply as exceptions specified in Article 24 through Article 27 of the Personal Information Protection Law.

Handling of the shareholder registry and other shareholder information
As a stock issuing company, the Company, pursuant to the Commercial Code and related laws and regulations, maintains a shareholder registry and, upon request by shareholders, makes name transfers in shareholder registers and updates related shareholder information. The Company also responds to requests for examination and duplication of the shareholder registry when they constitute an appropriate exercise of shareholder rights pursuant to the Commercial Code. The Company uses the shareholder registry for the following purposes:
- To exercise rights and fulfill obligations pursuant to the Commercial Code
- To provide convenience to shareholders��as the stock issuing company.
- To take measures to enable the shareholder and company to maintain a good relationship
- For shareholder related administration work, including the organization of shareholder data based on standards stipulated by relevant laws and regulations

The Company's appointed transfer agent is the Chuo Mitsui Trust and Banking Company, Limited, to which the Company outsources securities related administrative processing such as the preparation and maintenance of the shareholder registry.
